ICUF and Adam Carroll recently published eight new articles regarding
financial education for your credit union to use
in its newsletter, on its website or wherever

ICUF Financial Education Grant Application
Deadline is August
31!
 Time is running out to
apply for the 2011 ICUF Financial Education
Grant! The grant was created to help credit
unions develop a financial education program or
enhance an existing financial education
program. These grants should be seen as
seed money, rather than the only funding source
for a program. The credit union must be a member
in good standing of the Iowa Credit Union

Financial Eduation
Toolkit
 The Iowa Credit Union
Foundation has published a new edition of its
" Financial Education
Toolkit," made exclusively available for
Iowa credit unions. This toolkit contains
descriptions of nearly 20 financial education
tools that credit unions can use or promote to
local classrooms in their communities.
Recently added tool " The Stock Market Game" is a
ten-week simulation of Wall Street training, and
sets up a competition across grades - free of

Silent Auction and Benefit
Night
Believe it or
not, the 2011 Iowa Credit Union
Convention is right around the corner! And
that means so is the annual ICUF Silent Auction
and Benefit Night. Silent
AuctionICUF is asking for
donations for its annual Silent Auction to be
held at this year's Convention. All
proceeds will go towards funding ICUF
programs. The auction items will be
open for bid in the Trade Show area during Trade
Show hours, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. on
Thursday, September 15.
Benefit
Night
 Make plans to join us as we
cut loose at the 2011 ICUF Benefit Night at
the Des Moines Marriott, Downtown. Connect with
fellow Convention attendees over hors d'oeuvres
and cocktails as local cover band Flipside provides the
evening's entertainment. Admission can be
purchased through the Convention registration

Miracle
Jeans Day - September
14
The
new Miracle Jeans Day campaig is a fun and
easy way for credit unions to involve their
employees and members in supporting their local
Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
Jump on over to CU4Kids.org and
download a variety of materials to help your
credit union promote the campaign. Additional
information regarding the campaign can be found

well.

Recap
Adam Carroll, ICUF's Financial
Education Consultant and founder of National
Financial Educators, coached attendees on the
messages students need to hear if they are going
to successfully plan their "financial life."
Credit union
professionals from Alliant Credit Union,
Ascentra Credit Union and Veridian Credit Union
were in attendance.
Governor Terry Branstad and
Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds were in attendance and
spoke to attendees about the importance of
financial education and partnering with local
financial institutions, including credit unions.
